Public - Woolwich

Hiya!

Street Feast London had opened in a new location and its in...

Yup. The guys at Street Feast have turned an old unloved market into a trendy food hall. I went along and visited them on both Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd; the reason behind this was that on Friday it was so busy that we couldn't try everything on offer so we returned on Saturday with kids in tow!

Burger & Beyond
Parmesan & Bacon Tater Tots // Hot Mess Burger // Waffle Fries
I didn't get to try the burger as someone ate it all before I even took a bite! S said it was so good he wanted another one as the meat was juicy and it was spicy but not so much that you couldn't taste the meat. I LOVED these tater tots! The Parmesan worked wonders with the bacon and the potato! I had people come up to me asking what that was and where I had got it from as it smelt so good. The waffle fries was a big hit with Z. I had to stop him trying to eat it all as I took this picture.

Hens
1/4 British Chicken cooked on a charcoal fire with Lemon & Sage butter // Chips
We wanted to try the Chicken Bombers but they didn't have any so I thought that I should try the chicken and I was not disappointed! It was so soft, juicy and full of flavour! They gave us gravy on the side which I dare say would give KFC gravy a run for their money! We was disappointed with the fries as they was a bit burnt.

Ink.
Crispy Salt and Pepper Squid // Fish Nuggets and Hand-Cut Fries
The squid was the one I was most looking forward to but I was let down by it as there was no chilli flavour on the squid unless you ate a piece of chilli with it. The squid ink mayo tasted funny at first but after the first bite you get hooked on that sauce. I was extremely surprised by the  fish nuggets though as they tasted amazing! It was soft, juicy and so fresh.

Salt Shed
Butterflied Lamb Steak with Mixed Chips
This was very tasty as the lamb was still tender yet juicy and the sauces worked amazingly well with the meat but I do have to confess that this is my second time having chips from here as they was very burnt on opening night which made me scared about re-ordering chips from them but luckily they looked amazing when we got this meal and tasted so goooooooooooood! Especially the carrot chips!

Yumbuns + Yumplings
Pork Belly and Chicken Steamed buns //  Mixed Mushroom Steamed dumplings.
The buns were so delicious! Full of flavour and it tasted so fresh but I was let down by the dumplings. The sauce in which they used over powered any kind of mushroom flavour and it was very garlicy.

Lava
Hot Doughnut Puddings Double Choc // Salted Caramel
AMAZING! OMG! It smelt so good but once we cut open the doughnuts the sauces came rushing out! I loved it so much especially the salted caramel one! No words can describe these amazing little balls as they are just so good; the toppings worked so well with doughnut and ice-cream.
- YOU NEED TO GET THESE -

I would highly recommend you visit here for catching up with friends and family as everyone there are so friendly and welcoming but its definitely not a venue for a family trip out as its not really 'kid-friendly' due to being very tight. I will be visiting again but with no kids in tow as I will NOT be able to eat anything as the kids will be snatching food right out of my hand AGAIN!

Please Note
that this is a review based on their opening night so I will be revisiting after a couple of weeks to see how they've settled down and then give a fairer review.

Public - Fridays 5pm until Late // Saturdays 12pm until Late

BITE MI, Brockley

Hiya!

Spring is finally here! The weathers been ever changing but when it's hot all I crave is a nice Vietnamese meal. Me and S recently visited a new Vietnamese Restaurant located in Brockley, Lewisham called BITE MI.

Cha Gio
(Deep Fried Spring Rolls with Pork and Prawns)
This is the meatiest spring roll I have ever had! There was so much filling and it wasn't very oily but the sauce for the spring roll worked very well as it cut most of the grease.
Goz Cuon
(Summer Rolls with Pork and Prawn)
Whenever I eat Vietnamese I have to order Summer rolls. The ones at Bite Mi was so fresh.

Bun Thit Nuong
(Grilled Pork with Spring rolls served with Vermicelli Noodles)
S ordered this and loved the meat as it was marinated perfectly but the sauce was very spicy but it worked amazingly with the meat.

We had an amazing time here and the food was great. The staff was friendly and very welcoming so if you're near the area please pop by even if its for a started because its such an amazing place. I would visit again if I'm in the area as it took me nearly an hour by bus! LOL but if I drove I would be there every week. lol

MilkTrain Review

Hiya!

Recently I've seen alot of my friends post images of Ice-cream from MilkTrain and everytime I saw it my mouth would be like a river so I had to go and try it out for myself and I was NOT dissappointed.

Hojicha Ice Cream with Candy floss
I was kind of foolish and assumed this was chocolate but what I got instead was something far more tasty. This is a black tea ice cream which for some reason worked pretty well. At first it was bitter but once you have it with the chocolate syrup and popcorn it tastes AMAZING!

Vanilla Cookie & Creams Ice Cream
S ordered this tasty ice-cream but he didn't want the candyfloss (Mr Boring LOL). I loved it! It wasn't too sweet and there was alot of yummy toppings.

I would recommend you visit MilkTrain in Covent Garden if you're in London! The staff are friendly and best of all it doesn't cost an arm or a leg so you can get all 3 flavours if you want! The candyfloss is an extra charge but you just have to get it! Its so unique and the soft serve ice-creams just so yummy! Everything is made fresh including the candyfloss!

I hope you get a chance to try this yummy place and don't forget to check them out:-

Autumn Love Bites

Hiya!

I haven't been baking much but I decided to do some baking today and as a trial and error it was a success especially with Z.

Ingredients:

- 225g Unsalted Butter
- 225g Self-Raising Flour
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 100g Golden Caster Sugar
- 100g Light Muscovado Sugar
- 4 Large Eggs
- 1 Large Orange, Zest.
- Dark Chocolate covering
- Food Colouring paste, Red, Orange and Yellow

  1. Mix the butter and eggs together in a bowl and leave to the side.
  2. In a separate bowl mix the flour, sugars and baking powder together.
  3. Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and carefully fold them together.
  4. Using half of the orange juice it into the mixture and add the zest.
  5. Using a hand mixer, mix the ingredients together for a minute.
  6. Separate the ingredients equally into 3 bowls and add your colour paste (about 2 drops each).
  7. Fold the mixture into the food colouring until it is fully covered.
  8. Pour the ingredients into a tray alternating the colours and bake for 15-20 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
  9. Rest the cake for up to 2 hours
  10. Melt the hot chocolate covering either using the microwave or place a heatproof bowl above a pan of hot water.
  11. Pour the chocolate over the cake and let it rest.
  12. Once the chocolate hardens you can cut the cake into squares and ENJOY!!
I added an extra step as I used a cookie cutter and stamped out little love hearts for Z. It was small but still full of flavour. Z and S managed to finished the whole thing by the time I got out of the shower so that was the only picture which I had managed to take. Z left me 1 to try and I loved how it tastes! It reminds me so much of Autumn! Next time I will try and add some cinnamon to the chocolate to give a christmassy feel.

I hope you can try this recipe out

Urban Ice Woolwich

Hiya!

Urban Ice finally opened in Woolwich! OMG! You don't understand how long I waited for them to open! lol

I visited them on their opening day with Z and A.
Bubblegum Blast Sundae (£6.45)
A ordered this. It was the best bubblegum tasting sundae I've tried so far! It wasn't overly sweet and the bubblegum ice-cream tasted like the million sweets. I liked how they had two different coloured bubblegum ice-cream, pink and blue. It was very unique.
Oreo Sundae (£5.95)
No prizes for guessing who this sundae belonged to lol. Z didn't even look at the menu and asked for an Oreo sundae. I had to stop him from finishing it because it was just so much.
Nutella Freakshake (£8.95)
TAH-DAH! This is a Freak Shake and OMG! It was scary to look at! LOL I ordered this because I wanted to try their speciality. This monster of a shake contained a very thick Nutella blended milkshake with lots of Nutella spread around the glass mug which acted as a glue to stick the sugared ring doughnut. Within the doughnut hole they filled it with cream to help stick the cupcake! This was one crazy dessert and I did NOT finish this! LOL No where near!
I had to take everything apart to try everything out and once I cut into the cake I found this..
Yup! Its filled with Nutella! lol I tried a bit of everything but I had to scoop the milkshake up because it was so thick! I used a straw at first but it was that thick it wasn't budging.

I loved this place so much I went back the very next day but for a takeaway.

Oreo Cheesecake (£3.45) & Caramel Tart (£2.95)
Z asked for another Oreo product and this time he asked for an Oreo Cheesecake which he demolished within 5 minutes! LOL. I love Caramel tarts due to the memories it brings. Remember school dinners? LOL yup! Fun times! The tart wasn't very sweet as it was a thin layer of caramel which worked perfectly. I didn't get the custard as it costed £1 extra and by the time I got it home it'd be cold so I just made my own custard.
Caramel Tart (£2.95) & Strawberry and Queen Cheesecake (£3.45)
This cheesecake was soooooo good!! The strawberries was a bit tart but worked amazingly well with the sweet white chocolate. The base wasn't soggy and very crispy.
Thick Shakes : 3 x Areo Mint, Nutella, Crunchie, After Eight and White Kinder Bueno. (Reg. £2.95)
We went to Urban Ice especially for these shakes but ended up getting the caramel tart and cheesecakes LOL. I tried all of the flavours and I prefer the Areo Mint one as it was refreshing. The shakes wasn't as thick as the Freak Shake which made it easier to drink. The one I liked least was the Nutella one as it was overly sweet so I had to add some milk to take some of that sweetness away.

Overall I will visit Urban Ice again because its closer and also because the staff there are so friendly and welcoming.

Bagel Boss Woolwich

Hiya!

Bagel Boss opened on the 3rd September in Woolwich and I managed to get 2 bagels and the Jerk wings but missed out on the Chicken, rice and peas.

Boss Chicken Bagel (£2.75)
I was a bit disappointed with the Boss Chicken bagel but it was because they had ran out and had used a different cut of meat for it which they did say will not happen in the future.
Peri Peri Chicken Bagel (£2.75)
This bagel was so spicy but it tasted amazing! I loved how simple it looked yet it tasted great! I will definitely get this bagel again.
Jerk Chicken Wings (£2)
My number one thing to get is the jerk wings! It was full of flavour and for £2 for 6 wings its a bargain!

On opening me and my friend visited this place and asked for a take-away as it was so busy. OMG! The smell that was coming out of the bag was so amazing! It makes my mouth salivate just thinking about it! The bagels were soft and sweet but balanced perfectly with the fillings.
Jerk Chicken Bagel (£2.75)
I got A to go and get me the Jerk Chicken Bagel on Monday and like usual the bagel was soft and worked so well with the jerk chicken filling. There was the same yummy taste as the wings but it was much more mild compared to the wings...

I feel like going down there for a portion of wings now.. *dribbles* but then again I would love to try their chicken, rice and peas and also their healthy drinks!
They are located at the bottom of Woolwich High Street opposite Woolwich Leisure Centre :)

Hiya!

So recently me and S took Z to see In The Night Garden in Blackheath and we decided to go and revisit First Choice Cafe in Woolwich.

Oreo Milkshake
Z absolutely loves this! I had a taste and it wasn't too sweet and it had alot of Oreo bits.
Chocolate Milkshake
C ordered this and said that it was very nice. I love how its so foamy on top! It looks so pretty :)

English Breakfast
C ordered this amazing English breakfast and they have the best bubble! It was full of flavour and not too greasy.
Lasagne with Chips and Salad
S ordered this and found that it was very creamy. I loved the coleslaw especially with the red onions.

I love First Choice Cafe as the portions are big and the staff are just amazing.

What do you look forward to eating for Lunch?

Wimpy Restaurant - Woolwich

Hiya!

So sorry I haven't been posting much but the app I used on my blog is down! I didn't want to wait anymore so I used another app.

It was a beautiful day in London and we wanted desserts so we went to our local Wimpy's. Instead of just ordering desserts we ended up ordering meals.

Mango Iced Smoothie
C ordered this delicious drink! It was sweet and full of flavour! A must try for a hot sunny day.
Wimpy's Strawberry Shake
J ordered this as she didn't want a dessert after her meal. J loved it as it wasn't very sweet and it wasn't too thick either.

Scampi and Chips
I loved the scampi even though it was over cooked. The only downside is that they only provide you one packet of tartar sauce.

Wimpy's Spicy Bean Burger
J ordered this and she said it was very nice. There was a lot of flavour and it wasn't too spicy. It doesn't come with a side so she ordered chips.
Great Wimpy Breakfast
C ordered this and ate everything except the tomatoes as she doesn't like tomatoes. She loved everything but she did wish that it came with some chips.

We only ordered 2 desserts as J didn't want one and we thought we'd just share.
knickerbocker glory Sundae
There was a lot of fruit in here including a whole strawberry! It was okay but it was missing the strawberry sauce. They only put a tiny bit in and it just tasted like cream so we didn't finish it.
Brown Derby
OMG! This is amazing! The doughnut was hot and not very sweet but it worked very well with the ice cream and chocolate sauce.

What's your favourite Wimpy meal/dessert?

Tai Tung Chinese Restaurant Croydon

Hiya!

So recently we went to Ikea in Croydon and decided to go for dim sum. We drove to Wing Yip as my mum wanted to do a spot of shopping and so we ate at Tai Tung.
Dim sum is like Spanish tapas; everything is served in small portions which you share.

Siu Mai (Pork Dumpling) & Har Gow (Shrimp Dumpling)
These are the main dim sum dishes which everyone orders as it's just not dim sum without it. I'm not a big fan of Siu Mai but I did try the Har Gow and it was so juicy! As soon as I bite into it the juice from the shrip started pouring out.
Thai Style Chicken Feet & Chicken Feet in Chilli and Black bean Sauce
I know that it's a weird thing eating chicken feet but it's not bad. The Thai Style Chicken feet is typically eaten cold and its spicy but the ones here were very sweet so my mum had to order extra chilli sauce to dip it in; there wasn't a lot of daikan and carrot salad either so I was disappointed but the chicken feet in black bean sauce was amazing! It was very spicy and full of flavour.
Curry Whelks
I LOVE THIS! The curry sauce was spicy and full of wonderful flavours! J ordered this to try and between the both of us we finished it!
Spicy Beef Tripe
I'm not a fan of tripe but my mum and S loves it. I did try one and it was soft but it was so chewy! I had to spit it out as I couldn't break it down to swallow and I managed to suck out all of the flavours.
Prawn Spring Rolls & Deep Fried Meat Puff
I had a sore throat so I didn't really eat anything fried but S loved the meat puff as it wasn't too sweet but there wasn't a lot of meat inside. He also ate the spring roll and said that it was over fried so it was hard.
Char Sui Pork Buns & Chicken and Chive Buns & Sticky Rice Buns & Crispy Custard Bun
I love all of these buns as the actual buns were very sweet and complimented the fillings well. S ordered the sticky rice bun to try and I ate 2 by myself! The char sui filling was salty but worked amazing with the soft and sweet bun. I didn't manage to eat a chicken bun as I was really full by then. J ordered he crispy buns as she's had it before and said it was amazing; when it came I kinda avoided it as it looked so greasy and oily but it wasn't! It was very sweet and the bun was crispy but not very oily. I will definitely get it again!
Prawn Cheung Fun
You can't have dim sum and not order at least one cheung fun. Cheung fun is normally made from flour and steamed before being wrapped around a filling. We ordered the prawn one and it was so sweet. My mum didn't really like it so me and S ate it between us.
Beef Ho Fun (Wet)
As you know Z is very fussy at eating so we normally order him either a noodle or rice dish but he still didn't eat. All of us had some and felt that there was too much sauce even though we asked for the wet noodles we didn't expect it to soaked in sauce. The veggies was crunchy and sweet but the beef wasn't nice it tasted a bit off.

We ordered about 13 dishes between 5 of us and we couldn't even finish it so we had to take the left overs home. Apart from the whelks and the buns I found that this place wasn't nice as everything was sweet.
Dim Sum is nice as a family outing as you all get to sit together, catch up and try bits of everything but never go on a Sunday as its always busy.

Where do you like to go out for family meals?
