Potty Training

Hi!

As a first time mum there was a a lot of things which scared me when it came to Z and potty training was one of them. Z was a fast learner when it came to walking, talking, standing etc but potty training took ages and even though its been over a year and a half he still gets accidents.

When should I start Potty Training?
You should start potty training when your little one is ready. I got a lot of grief for not potty training Z at the age of 1! He wasn't ready to go sit on the 'big boy' toilet and held his wee in and refuse to eat or drink. The longest he held it in for was 2 whole days until I  placed a nappy back on.

Here are some signs which you should look out for:
- He/She know when they need to wee or poo and lets you know
- He/She can stay dry for up to 2 hours
- He/She doesn't poo at night
- He/She feels discomfort in their nappy

I found a quiz which may help if you are unsure if they are ready or not. [Click Here

What Potty Should I buy?
Research on the different types of potty's out there and find one suitable for your LO. I didn't bother getting Z a potty because he was so tall for a potty that his knees would be up to his chest instead I got him the Babylo Soft Seat With Handle which is a potty trainer. You place it on top of your own toilet seat when your LO needs to go to the toilet. These are amazing as they can be taken off if your LO isn't using it and its very travel friendly as all you need is a standard toilet to place your trainer on top and its not bulky at all. It was very easy to clean as you can seperate the soft seat from the plastic seat to clean and disinfect the entire seat. Z loved the 'green toilet' because it was so colourful and if he was waiting for 'yucky' he would count the colourful chicks.

I got the mine from Smythstoystore and it wasn't very expensive. [Click Here]

Pants or Pull-ups?
I know most people recommend pull-up pants first but in my experience they're expensive and they feel like a nappy. Z used his pull ups like his nappy; he didn't understand why he had to sit on his potty when his already done it in his pull-up so I got rid of them and just bought a lot of cheap underwear because you do NOT want to be washing poo off and it's easier to just throw it away. Most of Z training pants were bought from either Primark, Tesco or Asda because they cost less then £4 for 5 pairs.

How can I encourage my LO to use the potty?
Praises help alot! I made Z a chart from his favourite characters and every time he went to the toilet even to sit on the toilet he would be rewarded with sticker and a 'good boy' or 'well done'. I gave him little treats every time he did poo or wee in the toilet.

Here are some I found online but you can always create your own:

It will be hard but all it takes is time and patience so you should NEVER rush or get angry at your LO because it'll make them go back 2 steps. A year and a half has gone and Z still wet the bed but its only during the night when his in a deep sleep but once he wakes up he knows and gets so embarrassed. Its also important to let them know that 'accidents happen' and that they won't be getting a treat because it wasn't in the toilet.

Hope this help someone out there

Boxing Day Haul

Hi!

So Christmas has come and gone and what else is left except to hit the sales! I love my bargains!!!
This year I restricted myself to just a few shops and avoided the supermarket.

Boots
Boots this year disappointed me because there wasn't much so I only spent £6.24.
Botanics All Bright Micellar 3-in-1 Cleansing Solution £2.24 || Royal Jelly Hand Cream £2 || Glitter Babes Bath Fizzer Set £2
I bought the hand cream for my mum because she loves her hand creams and my little sister love her bath fizzers so I bought her the set. I've recently found that my face has become more oily and so I thought I'd give the Botanics solution a try.

Mothercare
I was in search for some new long sleeved PJs for Z as its become very cold and his old long sleeved PJs have grown small so I decided to look in Mothercare. I spent about £47 altogether.
PJ Set of 2 £6 || Rocket Pants  £3 || Spiderman Pants £3 || Thomas the Tank Engine Pants £1
I always buy extra pants as Z still have accidents and I was shocked at the price of the Thomas pants because the sticker said £3 but when I paid it said £1! £1 for 5 pairs of pants is such a bargain!
I got a few bits for my friend's babies and I have no prices for individual items as I lost the receipt but the items ranges from £3 to £8.

Superdrug
Every year I look forward to Superdrug's Sale because they have amazing discounts. This year was no difference except that a lot of stock was already gone by the time I got there but I did manage to do a fair bit of shopping and all I spent about £37 on this haul.
I bought a lot of Kinder Surprise gift houses as they were £0.99 each and I had a boxing day party to go to so I thought I'd get some for the kids there.
Leafy & Lively Bath Fizzer £0.99 || Princess Pink Bath Fizzer £0.99 || Princess Pink Bath Fizzer £0.10
Lately I have been obsessed with bath fizzers (bath bombs). I haven't been using them in the bath but leaving them out in rooms like potpourri. I normally go to Lush but this year I thought I'd stay local.
Studio Brush Set £4.99 ||  EcoTools Brush Set £4.99
I opened the boxes to see how soft the brushes were. The Ecotool set was less softer than the Studio ones but it was still very soft.
Sweet Snuggles Blanket £1.99
I love the colour of blanket but it wasn't as soft as I would like but I needed to get a small blanket to keep in S car for when Z falls asleep during car journeys.
Studio Spotty Glass Nail File Duo £0.99 || Studio Purple Glass Nail File Duo £0.99 || Flutter Nail File Trio £0.49 || Lipsy Trio Nail File £0.49
I just went crazy with nail files. I have to file my nails at least once a fortnight as my nails chip very easily. I ended up giving some to my sisters because they're always stealing mine.
Bubble Bath Pods £0.10 Each
Z loves his baths and I loved the designs on them. I'm not too keen on using the bath bubble because Z has very sensitive skin so we just use them to play games with.
Sleek Silver Giftset £9.99
Out of all of the bargains I love my Sleek Giftset because it was a bargain! I had received the Sleek GOLD giftset for Christmas and they contain different items. Even the staff at Superdrug was shocked at the price!

What bargains did you manage to pick up in the boxing day sales?
