Sapporo Ichiban Catford

Hey!

Sorry haven't been blogging much but its been so much easier to just tweet xD

Anyways..

Yesterday I went on a dinner date with my cousin and sister Sapporo Ichiban in Catford, London.
I have heard so much about this place but never ventured there.

As you walk through the first set of glass doors you get greeted by a small fish pond and then another set of glass doors. We were greeted by the hostess in a very polite manner, she then showed us to our table very quickly.
The area in which we sat at had a fun atmosphere as the tables had a whole on the ground so you was sitting on the floor

We sat down at our table and went through the drinks menu as she brought us the buffet menu to order from. This buffet is an order to make buffet so the food is as fresh as it can be as other buffets leave their food out for who knows how long.
The seating area had a homey feel with cushions on the floor, a lot of ornaments on the side and a japanese outfit hanging on the wall; it was so homey half way through the meal i took off my shoes and sat cross legged xD

So anyways..
Back to the food.

We ordered a Milk Ice tea Bubble Tea (£2.50), an Cream Iced Coffee Bubbe Tea (£2.50) and a Jasmin Tea (£1.20).
I had the Cream Iced Coffee Bubble tea I thought that it was ok but I did wish they added some ice to it but if they had I would've got less drink.

The buffet price was £12.90 per person (Mon-Fri). You can order up to 8 items maximum at a time and trust me you do NOT want to keep ordering 8 dishes as some dishes are huge and there is a wastage fee of £1 per sushi or £2 for any other dish.

On the buffet menu it tells you what you can order but not what it consists of so if you do come here I do suggest that you keep one of the main menus so you'll know.
The above picture shows the exact same salad but with different seafood. The top contained tuna flakes whilst the bottom contained seafood sticks. The salad was made up of a lot of celery, some carrots and some lettuce drenched in mayonnaise. It was fresh yet after eating it all you get stuff easily.

Carrying on with salads I ordered a pickled salad. To be honest I wasn't all that please with it as the radish were cut into square chunks and it wasn't spicy vinegary enough for me but thats just me! My mum makes this but she slices the radish and carrots thinly and adds a lot of fresh chillies. But you know what people,' No one can beat your mother's cooking'. LOL

We had two different Gyoza's a pork one and a vegetarian one as I'm not a big fan of pork.
If you was wondering what gyoza's are then the only way to explain them is that there like chinese dumplings.
Both plates of gyoza came with a vinegar sauce.

The reason we came here was for sushi and it did not fail us here..

The above picture shows the selection of sushis we had. They were nice but on the buffet menu didn't have alot of choices compared to the main menu but you can always add it on. We had a really strange one and didn't expect it to be nice but to our surprise it was. I can't remember the name but it had papaya, melon and avocado.

The main dishes were huge! I never expected my Yaki Soba to be on a big plate and so it took me ages to finish MOST of it. The noodles weren't very greasy and it contained a lot of vegetables; where normally you get big chunks of onions, you get big chunks of Pak choi. We also a chicken Katsu. The Katsu came out on a plate with lettuce underneath but it didn't have any sauce. The chicken was tender and moist in the middle but because there was no sauce the batter was very dry and it was hard to eat especially when they give you 2 pieces, one on top of another.

You all know the image above.. Yes it Aromatic Duck with Pancakes. There was a lot of duck compared to the vegetables! By this time we were so stuffed and couldn't eat anymore but we didn't wanna pay the wastage fee so forced it down our throats!
My cousin ordered a bowl of boiled rice thinking that there was going to be sauce on the katsu was finding inventive ways of eating the rice and here is one of them..

Ta Dah! An Aromatic duck and rice burrito! lol
But at least we didn't have to pay wastage fee as she did manage to finish the bowl of rice!

So would you be trying out a new restaurant? If so let me know how it goes.
